We Almost Stayed on the Ship… Glad We Didn’t! 🇳🇴
Jul 4, 2026
Join us for a beautiful rainy day in Skjolden, Norway, as we explore local village life and indulge in a massive Scandinavian seafood boil. From meeting local llamas to witnessing a dramatic emergency helicopter landing on the ship, this day on the MS Rotterdam was packed with surprises and scenic views.
In this vlog, we take you through a 60-minute tour of Skjolden, featuring the stunning Washboken Water Hill and some very friendly highland cows. We also dive into the local culture by sampling traditional Norwegian cured meats, including reindeer and moose, before heading back to the ship for a relaxing afternoon.
The evening gets even better as we visit the Dutch Cafe for their famous apple tart and then head to Deck 9 for a specialty Scandinavian Seafood Boil. This specialty dining experience is a must-try for seafood lovers, featuring lobster, mussels, shrimp, and smoked sausage. We also share the exciting news of our Mariner Society status upgrade and give you a front-row seat to the high-energy Orange Party and ship-wide bar hop.
